Movember poetry challenge – Days 3 and 4

Day 3 – Fix that grin on your face

Your shoulders not yet colliding
With the unwilling intruders
Haven’t yet stolen a glimpse of
An image of a shooting in the capital
Haven’t yet reached for the phone
For pictures of cats on the Internet

The streets are too quiet
The streets are too clean
The air is too clean

At this hour it’s sinful
For the city to be this way

Maybe it’s a big prank
Maybe your watch is running too fast
Maybe you’ve mixed up the day
Maybe it’s a Saturday
And you are a fool
A silly fool

Watch where you’re going you asshole!

And just like that,
The bubbling fear
Has been
Alleviated

Day 4 – Morning rituals

Some pick their stimulants wiser than others.
These molecules only aim to please.
When you’re all out of your good stuff,
The fidgety line-up will have to suffice.

These molecules only aim to please,
They won’t tell how they got here if you don’t.
The fidgety line-up will have to suffice
Though you wish others knew it’s not normally your thing.

They won’t tell how they got here if you don’t,
So here you are smelling blood like the rest.
Though you wish others knew it’s not normally your thing.
There is always more to be guilty about.

So here you are smelling blood like the rest
When you’re all out of your good stuff.
